Neal Brown Museum Education Support Endowment
Neal Brown, a respected scientist and educator, devoted more than 40 years to the University of Alaska Fairbanks, inspiring generations through his passion for science, exploration, and learning. As a UA Museum of the North Education Affiliate, he led the museum's family rocket programs and played a key role in developing its aurora education initiatives for many years. His legacy continues through the Neal Brown Museum Education Support Endowment, which helps sustain the museum's educational mission.

Kris Brown explains why his family supports UAMN:
Following the death of my beloved father Neal Brown, the longtime former Director of Poker Flat Research Range (operated by the UAF Geophysical Institute), as well as an avid educator about the aurora and Alaskan science to people of all ages in Alaska and beyond, I and my brothers Steve, Nat and Michael, as well as my sister Melody and stepmother Fran, decided to honor him and his work with the Neal Brown Museum Education Support Endowment, a unique collaboration between the Museum of the North and the Geophysical Institute to promote his passion for learning and instill in others his deep curiosity and interest in Alaskan science.
My father loved nothing more than to watch the eyes of a young child, senior, or anyone just light up as he explained the wonders of the aurora. I’d like to share this quote from him from the soon-to-be-released movie States of America, which includes an interview with my father about his life and work: “I give so many talks to people about the aurora. I tell them how to photograph it. I tell them about what is going on. Many times I tell them don’t even worry about it, just go out and look at it.”
